Can’t we all just agree on a remake of Ghostbusters with all the main characters played by Asian dudes who, instead of using their proton packs, karate chop all the ghosts into the traps. Of course, in lieu of the single black character in a cast of all white people, Winston would be played by an Indian.

On-Air Blooper of the Day: Poor Martin Short. On this morning’s Today show, host Kathie Lee Gifford asked the actor how he maintains a happy marriage with his wife — who died of ovarian cancer in 2010.

Nothing but respect for the way Short handled it, as Gifford forged ahead, clueless.

She apologized via Twitter following the show: “I send my sincerest apologies to Martin Short and his family. He handled situation w/enormous grace and kindness and I’m so grateful.”

In Case You Missed It of the Day: An unidentified homeless man is fighting for his life after his face was nearly eaten off by a naked attacker Saturday on a downtown highway ramp in Miami.

The attacker has been identified as Rudy Eugene, a 31-year-old homeless man. Some are speculating that he may have been high on LSD.

“He was ripping into his face with his teeth,” said Miami resident Larry Vega, who witnessed the attack. “He was ripping his skin, his neck. He had him held down. The guy couldn’t move really, and he was just tearing into his flesh. … You see these things in the movies, but when you see it up front and up close, it’s pretty traumatic. It really is.”

When a police officer approached and told Eugene to get off his victim, Eugene just kept chewing. “The guy just stood… with pieces of flesh in his mouth and he growled,” Vega said.

The officer then shot and killed Eugene.

As for the unfortunate victim, “much of his face was gone, the skin ripped away, the nose bitten and the eyes gouged,” according to the Miami Herald. He is in critical condition.

“We’re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,” said Sgt. Javier Ortiz, of the Miami police union. “Only he knows.”

You can be sound asleep in the basement of the house behind a shut door and be woke up by a gun shot outside on the opposite side of the house. I went from a dead sleep to wide awake, instinctively found my favorite personal protection device in the dark, cleared the stairway, just as my uncle was walking back to the house from the back yard with the .22 Marlin. He was shooting at an opossum and I was ready for war.
